About Felipe

Felipe Proaño Iturralde is one of South America's most recognized climbers and explorers. He began to climb the mountains of Ecuador in 2003 and gradually became involved in rock climbing. Over time, places in Ecuador, Peru and Colombia became his training grounds until he traveled overseas to climb El Capitan in Yosemite Valley, CA. His objectives continued to be accomplished in dozens of other sites in the US and abroad. Felipe has been a participant in the development of climbing routes in many locations and a contributor to the growth and evolution of the sport. On his list of goals to accomplish are the Trango Towers in Pakistan, the Big Walls of Baffin Island, and some of the most noticeable peaks of the world. He is the founder of the Andean Access Foundation, host of the Reel Rock Tour in Ecuador, an AMGA Apprentice Rock Guide, ACE Personal Trainer, author of the first and second book 'Rutas de Escalada en Ecuador', member of The Explorers Club and the protagonist of the movie 'Middle of Somewhere'. Felipe has been a The North Face ambassador since 2013 and Isopure Athlete since 2020. He is credited with dozens of first ascents in South America, repetitions in Colorado, Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming, more than 28 successful Big Wall ascents, and more than 16 expeditions to remote locations.
